Steve Musee Mbati Kondo displays some of the injuries he sustained after he was assaulted by the former Machakos KMTC Principal Mr. Benson Mbati Kondo and Peter Mbuv8i outside his home in Ithookwe Kitui Central.
The former Machakos Medical Training College principal and currently the principal of KMTC Kitale is a wanted man, after he and a colleague physically assaulted his younger brother a week ago.
Mr Benson Mbati Kondo and Peter Mbuvi are reported to have pounced on their younger brother Steve Musee Kondo on 22nd July this year, around 2.00 pm outside his gate by Mbati following a family despute; and proceeded to beat him up, causing grievious harm on his self.
According to a witness, another brother Isaac Isika Kondo, the duo were claiming that the younger brother Steve Musee has no respect for Mr Benson and hence must be beaten.
“They waited for him as he was coming from my house, chased him and caught up with him near his gate,” said Isika in a phone interview with our reporter, “Benson then knocked him down with a big stick that he was carrying and then started beating, kicking him as he was calling for Mbuvi who also joined him. They then continued beating him jointly.”
It took the intervention of women coming from a nearby church to stop the beating. On hearing his crying out, Milly Mumbe, the daughter of the victim (a university student) claims that she came out of their compound running, opened the gate and started shouting for help. It was only after the realization by the attackers that many people were gathering that they left the victim writhing on the ground with pain and bleeding all over. The daughter called Her father’s older brother a, Mr. Isika who was already driving to Nairobi. Mr Isika then took his brother to Kitui Police station where they got Mbati lodging an assault complain. He had already bandaged one figure to convince the police of the assault. In addition, he also surrendered the weapons used in assailing Steve Including a kitchen Knife, a paga and a catapult claiming the weapons as one used by Musee to attack him.
Despite the victim having recorded a statement at the Kitui Police Station(OB: 38/22/2018) and filled the P3 form, complete with a medical report by the Medical Superintendent Kitui District Hospital; the suspects have not yet been arrested. Family members are crying foul over the laxity of police to arrest the suspects and arraign them in court over the heinous act. Mr Benson Mbati Kondo is still carrying out his duties at Kitale KMTC, and Peter Mbuvi Kondo is still working at Makueni County as a Public Health Officer, stationed at Emali Town.
When Kitui Newspaper tried to reach Kitui Police Station for commentary on the matter, the OCPD was out of office and could not be reached over phone. The OCS who was in charge of the station during the time of the crime spoke to our reporter over the phone but disassociated herself from the matter, claiming that she was no longer responsible for such matters as she had been transferred to Kiganjo.
